I’d never heard Firebrand Super Rock (bit of a non-nonsensical mouthful isn’t it?) before I saw them on Saturday night. Turns out by not listening to the Edinburgh based band I’d been missing out on all da riffs yo!
Gun to my head, on record the band aren’t really my thing. It’s far too up beat and positive for my poetic angst ridden self, but live Firebrand Super Rock were tight, exciting and really impressive performers.
If you’re into the more classic vein of Metal, and some seriously sick wailing vocals, then they’re likely to be your thing. Get into it.
This show was kinda frustrating to shoot lighting wise, but in the end it turned out a lot better than I hoped for. Even managed to keep the set as a colour instead of resorting to tried and tested “my pictures are noisy so I’ll make them black and white” trick. Good old 1.8 50mm never fails.
You can find Firebrand Super Rock in the company of some sweet riffs on Facebook. Their second album is out now via Wasted State Records.
