I haven’t been lucky enough to catch Bacchus Baracus for an age. Finally I got to on Saturday night and it was an excellently riffy affair.

To me, the band sound like ZZ Top channelling the coolest parts of Queens of the Stoneage, though they lack the slick back haircuts of that band. Which is kind of a shame, but they make up for it with excellent beards.

And tunes. They’ve a few of those as well.

Lighting wise I found this show a huge challenge for some reason. Didn’t really feel in the zone at all. But the good old nifty fifty saved the day.

You can find out more about riffs and Mammoths at the Bacchus Baracus Facebook. Their d├ębut record is out now via Wasted State Records.
